LICENSED COUNSELING IN VIRGINIA
Counseling in Virginia
Sometimes life asks more of us than we know how to hold alone. A loss changes the shape of the days. Anxiety begins taking up too much room. Something from long ago finds its way into the present.
For those living in Virginia, this is the part of my work where we can meet within the steady frame of traditional counseling.
They stood at the same threshold.
A young boy of eight woke night after night in terror. His father was dying. The two of them stood at the same threshold, one near the beginning of a life and one at the end of it, and each of them had lost the way home.
We built bridges. The boy made a meeting place in his imagination, somewhere in the country between the worlds, a landing spot where his father could arrive and the family could find him again after the crossing.
The illness took the father’s words while it left him his music. I sang to him, and he laughed. Then he would find a tune of his own and hum it, and the song said what his heart wanted to say. Music lives in a different room of the brain than speech, and the speech was going. I sat with that family through the long week of his dying, and they gave me their blessing to tell you this much of it.
This page holds the part of my practice governed by a license.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, I offer traditional counseling to people living in this state.
The work here usually runs weekly or every other week, with individuals, couples, and families. People come with anxiety, with grief, with a life transition holding them at the edge, or with the long echo of something early. I bring the same somatic ground into this room, along with sand tray, imagery, sound, and story.
If you live outside Virginia, consulting, mentorship, and retreat work remain open to you, and the other pages here will point the way.
